Membership Services

The Alliance offers membership to organizations and individuals. The services you recieve as a member vary depending on weather you have organizational or individual membership.

All members will recieve a monthly Newsletter, with timely, hard-to-find news and information on professional and funding opportunities; can attend occasional membership meetings and workshops exploring issues of importance to the community; have access to a resource library with information on funding and touring, as well as such publications as Dance Magazine, Dance Teacher, Early Music America, Grammy, Historical Performance, Illinois Music Educator, Music Educator's Journal, Musical America International Directory of the Performing Arts, The New Grove Dictionary of Music & Musicians, Stern's Directory and Teaching Music. The Alliance's professional staff also provides referrals to other appropriate resources, including information on insurance options for organizations and individuals.

Organizational members have access to cooperative advertising services, with discounted rates for advertising on radio stations WBEZ-FM, WDCB-FM & WFMT-FM and in the Chicago Reader, Chicago Tribune, Daily Herald and Reader's Guide.

Individual members have access to credit union membership through Credit Union 1, with locations in Chicago, Charleston, Libertyville, Lombard, Normal, Northlake, Rantoul, Rockford and Springfield; discounts for concert tickets and recordings; and career development information including resume review and counseling on job hunting strategies.
Most Chicago Dance and Music Alliance members and activities are concentrated in the Chicago metropolitan area, with additional activities, especially in support of arts education, conducted throughout Illinois. To further arts education, the Alliance maintains affiliations with the Illinois Coalition for Music Education and the Illinois Music Educators Association.

Professional Dancer or Musician?
Being a member of Chicago Dance and Music Alliance is about pursuing excellence in good company. It's also about having access to services that just aren't available anywhere else.

Independent consultant Michael Hobor called the Alliance "a modestly sized organization that appears to provide its members value notably in excess of its size. It was interesting to me that not a single individual I interviewed raised complaints or pet peeves as a member."

We can't promise perfection, but we can assure you that serving our members is our first priority. If you can't find the answers to your questions on our site, contact us directly - that's what we're here for.
